6 Drinks to Try This Weekend, and Take You Through the Year

John Lermayer is a New Yorker based at The Florida Room at Delano Hotel in Miami. He has created beverage programs for multiple properties in the Morgans Hotel Group, and has received numerous awards including Canton’s 2009/2010 Bartender of the Year.

His under the radar liquor favorites: “A couple that have been on my radar for years… El Tosoro Tequila, George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey, and Plymouth Gin… These are three five-star spirits that are surprisingly still hard to come by in your average bar. As far as new brands go, Dos Maderas Aged Rum from Spain (aged five years in oak and five years in sherry barrels) and the line of Del Maguey Single Village Mezcals are mind blowing.”

A drink to take anyone through 2011: “I have to go back to the Tommy’s Margarita.”
