For what it’s worth, if this were a story focused on musicians/entertainers who have sex with teenagers, it certainly wouldn’t be limited to R. Kelly. You seem to be a fan, so his name may stand out most to you, but the post as a whole isn’t a singling out.

I wrote that he “allegedly has sex with young teens.” There are allegations to that effect outside of the video for which he was acquitted of making child pornography.

I’m from Chicago and yes, I do have personal knowledge of things that may not have been shown in court. Keeping this argument to things in the public domain there is evidence that he married a teenager – no one knows if that was consummated, but it certainly wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility. I haven’t seen the tape that allegedly had him on it, but from stills that I have seen, enough people believe it to be him that considering my own knowledge believe there was a good chance it was him, and that there was a good chance the girl on the tape was a teenager.

Further, the charges against R. Kelly were for creating child pornography. If a 14 year old and a 15 year old videotaped themselves having sex, it would also be considered child pornography even if the sex itself were legal. In short, that’s to say him being found not guilty of creating child pornography does not mean the allegations that he has sex with teenagers are untrue, just that they haven’t been proven in a court of law.

Well some of what you said is true. What isn’t a matter of opinion is the fact Robert Kelly has never been convicted of any charges. There was never a tape proven that he was involved in any wrong doings. Have you viewed something Cook County was unable to ?

We refer to the charges of antisemitism against Galliano as allegations as well, but when there’s video evidence to support those allegations, sometimes judge and jury isn’t required to maintain an informed opinion to the contrary.

The public also stopped vilifying plenty of other musicians who married or slept with teenage girls, in Italy for the number of people who condemn Berlusconi, there are probably as many who support him or don’t care about the charges.

The point of the article is that talent in whatever regard usually ends up outweighing negative opinion of whatever social acts people wouldn’t want to directly support. Whether that’s good or bad is a matter of opinion.
