This really is a messy situation. To be honest, I’ve been saying since I heard that this is bloggers vs. editors. I went to the new coveted and it’s just a bunch of posts on magazine editors…gimme a break. Sites like StyleLikeU are way more interesting b/c they don’t always use big names and high powered editors. I think it’s really lame how all the mainstream publications constantly attack bloggers and question our credibility and knowledge and then they go and steal our ideas.

This is very disrespectful and disheartening especially b/c I’m a blogger and entrepreneur. It took me weeks to name both my blogs and when naming my new business the first thing me & my business partner did was google the name to see if and how it was being used. I’m here to show my support for Jennine and the original Coveted and let everyone know that fashion blogging is here to stay and your Oglivy PR budget and magazine editor connection will not let you prevail.

I don’t see how any internet literate person could totally miss the existence of a brand with the exact same name you want.

Personally, the thing that disgusts me most is the not so subtle disdain they’re showing through their actions, legal response and lack of any other response. Though I can’t confirm this, and thus won’t include it in the post itself, I suspect they knew about Jennine’s blog and didn’t care because it was just a “personal blog” without the obvious PR budget and magazine editor friends they have to help pimp their project out.

Yes, it’s a nice blog, but they didn’t invent Google or anything life changing. Now people can confirm via pretty photos that fashion magazine editors and executives have pretty, designer clothes and are inspired by sites about fashion. Well! knock me over with a feather, I NEVER would have imagined that. Next you’ll tell me water is wet and fire is hot.

I’m sure they tested that name first and saw someone had it. I mean, come on already!

Your last point is the smoking gun, in my view: the URLs you mention would have been MUCH more appropriate, and their availability makes it clear that these people are deliberately poaching on Jennine’s brand.

Great job.
