But with global travel hubs that ring south-eastern Asia competing for attention, in conjunction with airlines offering no to little fare increase in a multiple day stopover, an Aussie winter jaunt could goes from last stop to encore. Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok are colorful, culture-rich points along the way that could replace day-old sandwiches and an airport layover with authentic ‘pad’ noodles and fascinating finds to fill the senses for not much more than it would have cost to just fly by.
