Well, surprise surprise. This week WWD reported that the worldâ€s no. 1 pop star has in fact signed a deal with Coty to create a line of signature Lady Gaga fragrances.

The same Coty executive who denied the rumors a few months back, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing in the Coty Beauty division Stephen Mormoris, said the agreement was worked out last week, and the first of several future Lady Gaga womenâ€s scents is set to launch in spring 2012.

We love to say I told you so – note this direct quote from a past Signature9 post on the subject: “Even though Gaga is not working on a scent yet, weâ€re betting she will be at some point.”

Bloggers around the Web continue to speculate what Gagaâ€s perfumes will smell like, with some guessing it will have rubber or hairspray notes. {Fashionista} We can only hope none of the fragrances smell like raw meat (BTW is anyone else wondering how Gaga kept from stinking like rotting flesh at Sunday nightâ€s VMAs?).

Anyhow, weâ€re sure the beauty execs at Coty will come up with something wearable. Weâ€re sticking to our original prediction that the most interesting part of the fragrances will be their bottles.

“The Lacoste fashion jewelry is part of the strategy developed with our partners to propose a more complete feminine offer to our clients,” CEO Christophe Chenut says in a recent press release. “This new license confirms our willingness to increase our share among women to accompany the apparel and leather goods development.” {Stylelist}

Smart move. Scheduled to launch at the brand’s Spring fashion show, the lineup is said to include bracelets, necklaces, bags and cell phone cases. All things to make any existing fan happy, and the makings of a more complete shopping experience for the customer already dedicated to the brand. If the bright color combinations from the Fall collection are anything to go by, there might be some pretty unique tennis bracelets on the horizon.

“I know nothing of this project,” Senior Vice President of Global Marketing for the firmâ€s Coty Beauty division Steve Mormoris told WWD. “It is a totally false rumor.”

It is easy to see how the rumor spread so easily since Coty leads the celebrity fragrance trend with past and present scents from Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé Knowles, Sarah Jessica Parker, David and Victoria Beckham and Halle Berry in addition to some 10 others. It seems, however, the extent of Gagaâ€s involvement in the beauty biz remains with MAC Cosmetics. She is the spokeswoman for the brandâ€s AIDS Fund and collaborated with MAC to create a signature Viva Glam lipstick. {WWD}

Even though Gaga is not working on a scent yet, weâ€re betting she will be at some point. The Cutâ€s bloggers have been speculating what it will smell like, but we think the more interesting aspect will be the bottle design, which is more likely to be the focus of Gagaâ€s creative weirdness. Maybe the cap will resemble a hair bow, or perhaps the entire thing will look like a hand reaching up in the spirit of the design of the double grand piano she shared with Elton John at this yearâ€s Grammy Awards. It’s been confirmed that Winehouse has collaborated on a new 17-piece  fashion collection for British sportswear designer Fred Perry, expected to be released in October.

Marketing Director for Fred Perry, Richard Martin stated, “We had three major design meetings where she was closely involved in product style selection and the application of fabric, color and styling details…pieces such as gingham shirts and the Heritage jacket, another label classic, are the foundation of the lineup. On those items, “Amy gave crucial input on proportion, color and fit,” Martin said. “The range clearly has Amyâ€s handwriting.” {The Cut}

How many people actually want to emulate the messy, grunge look Amy is often seen in? Sure, there may be some fashion sense lurking beneath the surface, but the “this shirt hasn’t been washed in months!” look is one we could do without. Managing director for Fred Perry, John Flynn, added “We have had a great relationship with her over the years as she has been a loyal fan and supporter. Amyâ€s sense of style and attitude to music and fashion pervades through this collaboration. We hope her fans and our fans will feel the same way.”

We have also been hearing rumors that Amy is taking on a beauty venture, supposedly creating a new line of  makeup. Her popularity in London, especially her signature beehive hairdo and heavy-handed eyeliner, have inspired trends in past seasons (famously, as Karl Lagerfeld’s muse for a season at Chanel). The line could include items like hairspray, headscarves,  liquid eyeliner and perfume.
