Far from your typical Greeting Card, the offerings at Old Tom Foolery are sure to make your significant other chuckle – or throw a shoe at you. Depending on how testy your significant other is.

Not Your Average Greeting Cards, available at Old Tom Foolery

But we say take a chance on these cheeky cards! Should you need even more incentive, Old Tom Foolery’s having a Valentine’s Day Deal: Buy 3 by February 15th and get the 4th free!

Of course, if you’d rather not risk it, you couldn’t go wrong with these beauties from Rifle Paper Company. Or, in the event of shoe-throwing chaos, perhaps it would be wise to buy both?

Just a suggestion.

The Lighting’s On the Wall(paper) http://198.46.88.49/living/the-lightings-on-the-wallpaper http://198.46.88.49/living/the-lightings-on-the-wallpaper#respond Mon, 02 Nov 2009 20:26:43 +0000 http://198.46.88.49/?p=4936 Imagine if your wallpaper was like a giant, touchscreen remote for your house: touch a flower here and, voila, your lamp is on; rub a petal there and, hark, the sweet sounds of your iPod begin to play.

As crazy as it sounds, The Living Wall is just that. The “High-Low Tech Group” at MIT’s Media Lab, a group that aims to “democratize engineering” by designing technologies with low-tech materials, created The Living Wall with only paper and magnetic/conducive paints.

Not only is this the only interactive wallpaper we’ve ever seen (unless you count that tasty wallpaper in the Willy Wonka movie), it also happens to come in vivid colors and gorgeous patterns.

This is one practical paper that comes with a serious “wow” factor.

Paper Capers http://198.46.88.49/living/travel/paper-capers http://198.46.88.49/living/travel/paper-capers#respond Sat, 17 Oct 2009 00:07:52 +0000 http://198.46.88.49/?p=3156 Artwork by Andreas Kocks
Move over, doilies. Cut paper’s just gotten a whole lot edgier. The New York Museum of Art and Design’s newest exhibit, “Slash: Paper Under the Knife,” showcases contemporary artists who use paper (a veritable endangered species in this digital age) in innovative ways. The result is an absolutely breathtaking array of human bodies, intricate machinery, and explosive clouds crafted – somehow – from paper. The exhibit is open until January, but you shouldn’t wait to check out Andreas Kocks’ gorgeous and inspiring works – they’ll forever change the way you see paper. Trust us, these aren’t the construction paper cut-outs you have in mind.
