Crocs were actually a beneficial factor in the world this week. We know, it’s hard to believe, considering all the reasons Crocs are a disgrace:

  • They’re ugly.
  • A pair of Crocs make you look like an idiot just being near them.
  • The name even sounds ugly.
  • Come on, is there really no other comfortable, decent-looking shoe you can find out there?! We’ve seen grandmothers with orthopedic footwear that’s more stylish.

But three-year-old Harley Sutton-Dormer’s Crocs saved his life from “a faulty hairdryer.” {Styleite} If he had not been (luckily) wearing those atrocious-looking excuses for shoes, the electricity that traveled through his body – and gave him some burns, would have come out his body and killed him.

Who knew Crocs could be an electricity grounder, and thus a lifesaver? Well, if you think about it, rubber is a common ingredient in shoes. So really, a number of shoes could have saved Harley’s life. And considering kids can make even the craziest sounding things cute (denim diapers, anyone?) we’ll give the style choice a pass.

Despite our bewilderment as to the actual existence of Crocs, this is a pretty amazing tale. At least there’s one reason to give Crocs a break. But God knows we’re still not investing in a pair.
