Gaga is very well-known for her avoidance of pants. This past Sunday night, scores of Hollywood stars gathered at the MTV Europe Awards, and here’s a scorecard of how many celebs took a lesson from the Lady and went pants-less at some point during the event:

Katy Perry, who sported a white leotard for her performance of Firework, Eva Longoria two separate times as host of the show, Miley Cyrus while performing Who Owns My Heart, Ke$ha on the red carpet and Taylor Momsen also on the red carpet (who, whether she realized it or not, actually ripped right off Gaga with an underwear beneath a coat and boots look). Plus, Longoria also dressed as a ham at one point, though her costume was not actually made of raw meat. {The Cut}

Quite a list, no? Now you might argue that Gaga did not actually start the pants-less thing since Cher has been known to go without them and even Madonna rocked a few leotard looks in her day, but these stars never really seemed to inspire as many others to take on the look too.

With winter fast approaching, we’re not sure how popular the no pants movement will be in the mass market. As far as celebrity fashion though, Lady Gaga’s definitely setting the trends.

ESPN’s ESPY Awards Warms Hearts Across the Country http://198.46.88.49/living/espns-espy-awards-warms-hearts-across-the-country http://198.46.88.49/living/espns-espy-awards-warms-hearts-across-the-country#respond Thu, 15 Jul 2010 19:57:03 +0000 http://198.46.88.49/?p=14196 Wednesday night marked an event in the sports world unlike any other: the 2010 ESPY Awards. An annual event since 1993, the ESPYs attract not only big name sports stars like Brett Favre, Landon Donovan, and Shaun White, but also an array of musicians, actors, and other celebrities whose jobs are not tied to the sports world. Like most awards shows, there were the typical musical performances, humorous jabs, and jovial quips between presenters.

The Thomas family accepts the Arthur Ashe award at the 2010 ESPY Awards

But the most memorable portion of the broadcast was the presentation of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. As an African-American, Ashe protested multiple times over the apartheid in South Africa, resulting in several arrests and his name become synonymous with “courage in the face of adversity”. The 2010 Arthur Ashe Award was presented to the Thomas family of Parkersburg, Iowa. A short documentary outlined the life of the amiable Ed Thomas, football coach at the Aplington-Parkersburg High School. A beloved member of the Parkersburg community, Thomas was shot by a former player after practice in June 2009. Ed’s remarkable nature was evidently passed along to his children, who continued to be friendly to the family of the murderer, even releasing a statement that the Becker family was not to be alienated from the community in anyway. Thomas’s murderer was a diagnosed paranoid-schizophrenic and has since begun his life sentence.

The Thomas family continues to show it’s strength, particularly by bringing the Becker family with them to the award show. Ed Thomas’s two sons and wife graced the stage for a few brief minutes in which they explored the man their father had been and how his presence bettered them all.
