Earlier this week, the Amazon Kindle was unavailable for order. Amazon typically doesn’t have any problem fulfilling orders for the popular eBook reader so many speculated that perhaps we were on the verge of a new Kindle. Now, just a few days later we do indeed have a new Kindle from Amazon. The new version is simply dubbed the Amazon Kindle.

Plus sized shoppers have been trying to let retailers know that an interest in designer clothes doesn’t diminish relative to an increase in size for years. Now, it seems at least one has gotten a few high end fashion lines to listen up. Starting with this season’s fall/winter collections, Saks Fifth Avenue will carry clothes from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Fendi, Donna Karan, Valentino and Roberto Cavalli in size 14 – up to size 20 for some.

In case you’ve missed the controversy, here’s a quick recap. Essence is a magazine that’s targeted towards African-American women. They’ve been searching for a fashion editor since March. They recently chose Ellianna Placas, a white editor who had former positions at O: The Oprah Magazine and celebrity weekly US Weekly. Before being named to the position, Placas contributed to the magazine on a freelance basis.

Marc Jacobs fans will soon be able to play the American designer’s own version of tag. On Wednesday, the Facebook page for Marc Jacobs’ latest men’s fragrance, Bang, was launched. When the fragrance hits counters this Friday, the fan site will unleash a new game called “Bang! You’re It,” in which users can virtually “bang” their friends to earn points.

Last week we talked about a few of the less expensive smartphones for Verizon Wireless. That’s great if you don’t plan on travelling much outside of the US anytime soon. The biggest carrier in the US with phones that work in a majority of other countries is AT&T. Finding a smartphone on AT&T that’s worthwhile and not an iPhone can be tough, especially when you’re on a budget or refuse to pay more than $50 for a smartphone. As with last week, most of the phones come from Amazon which tends to sell phones cheaper than the carriers do.
