We’re on to our second man bag of the week, and you may notice a habit developing. That would be color blocking and canvas combinations if you don’t feel like clicking through to figure it out. What can we say? Girls normally get all of the interesting colored accessories, so when we spot a bag for the guys with clean lines and colors that manages to still preserve the simplicity that lets a good man bag retain its masculinity we can’t help making it a regular thing. This week, it’s the vibrant stripe of green against shades of light brown and white that checked all of the perfect form boxes, the generous amount of room in this big bag takes care of function and will work from the office to the gym to an overnighter or two.

We’re taking this time in our normal Daily Bag schedule to introduce something new: man bag of the week. Once derided as a frivolous accessory for metrosexual men, the man bag is really a matter of practicality for lots of guys these days. Technology is going more portable in the form of tablets and smartphones, and pockets just can’t keep up. Guys, if you have to carry a bag – and there are plenty of reasons why you’d have to – there’s no shame in straying from the standard messenger bag from time to time and imparting a bit of style.

With that in mind, we thought the Jack Spade Dipped Coal Bag, $195 @Zappos was the perfect first pick for our Man Bag of the Week. Continuing with our Mondrian inspired picks this week, the white canvas tote gets a bit of pop art influence with a big block of yellow rubber latex and black straps and trim. Functionally, the rubber dipped bottom also adds a bit of protection against spills, or the occasional run in with liquids. Be warned though: the style quotient means it probably won’t protect against the women in your life who like the combination enough to want to make it their own. Especially since other recent unisex offerings weird us out a little.

We have to admit we’re getting a little tired of all the Nantucket prepster boat shoes rolling out in droves this fall/winter season, but we’re willing to change our minds for the co-branded collaboration between footwear companies UNDRCRWN and Rockport.

The D.O.C. Delta Boot has the classic boat shoe shape, but with quirky pink laces and a suiting-inspired pinstripe exterior the shoe goes beyond basics and offers a unique take on a silhouette that seems to be everywhere right now. We also love the luxe leather/wool/suede fabrication — much more chic than all those other canvas docksiders!

With a limited-edition run of only 100 pairs (and that’s worldwide!) we’re sure there will be a mad dash to UNDRCRWN (both retail stores and online) to pick them up at the November 27 launch, so get on your running shoes and catch them while you can.

Our lucky fellows across the pond will be able to partake in the recent UK launch of the Y-3 Sport Luxury line of athletic-inspired accessories.

We love the modern elegance of the pieces (our favorite is the black cracked leather satchel, above), which combine the extravagance and classic comfort of fine leather and wool with a pared-down aesthetic that screams neither “too fussy” nor “too sporty.”
